MAJOR SPOILERS!

The Big Apple...has a secret core! :0

Looks like the forest. Think again!

Once Upon a time in the city of New York.

Okay. So this is pre-9/11 New York. Yep, by now it sure is once upon a time. Oh how things have changed. So we have 80s era style taxis, one stops and Sarah Connor walks out of one looking very 80s chic. Okay, before we go any further I must force your focus up at the three writers of this show. It's there in the description. Yes, it's THAT George R.R. Martin. Now this was a time when fantasy drama was not really all that popular. Dare I say if it weren't for B&B Game of Thrones might never have happened? Now I've only seen the first episode of GOT but by judging from what I hear about how it ended I'm really wondering if that was a good or bad thing. Alright, so Connor walks into a building with lots of offices. She says,"Good morning!" "Not anymore," comes a reply from the front desk lady. So now we've managed to see that Connor is either rich and slacking off or she's average but fronting. Lady, get your priorities straight!

My daddy's loaded! I can do whatever I want!

She continues to be berated by her fellow co-workers who seem to know all too well she's a slacker. In she goes to see Daddy! Oh, now we get it. She literally has a sugar daddy. Well, you know what I mean. Spoiled, little rich girl. So her name is Cathy. She "works" for her father. Yes, a daughter of a
corporate lawyer.
Welcome to Snob Hill!

She attends a business party with her apparently snobbish boyfriend who complains that she's been listening to her friend "blubber" all night. What a boyfriend! We sure are in Fancy Elite World! Her boyfriend calls her friend a lush. What's a lush? Have to look that up. LOL! Okay, so the dictionary says lush means "vegetation growing luxuriantly, very rich providing great sensory pleasure, and/or sexually attractive". Whoa, was he complimenting her?! lol! Naaa, it probably means she's a drunk or something I don't know. hehe.

Hi! My name's Carol. Do I matter? YES!

As they argue about his pettiness another lady who looks sorta similar to Cathy walks down the steps and you can hear a woman say, "Carol?" Like that won't come into play later. Nothing to see here. Cathy ditches the snob, says goodbye to her friend, passes by Carol and leaves.

"Believe me, lady. I'm a nice guy."

So Cathy tries to flag down a taxi and some nice dude comes up to help her do so. Apparently nice dude isn't so nice because next moment he grabs her, calls her Carol and shoves her into a van with his buddy! Oh man! What would Sarah Connor do at this moment? Hmmm. So they cut her face up and dump her behind in a park.

"Guess what? I lied."

If she was Sarah Connor (T2 type) SHE would have thrown those guys out of the van, all cut up, in the park. Then it would've been "tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Two Goons and the Beast!" That would be a different show altogether. So a strange looking dude (us fans know ) finds her apparently because he travels miles out of the sewers, picks her up and takes her below.

Cathy go down de hole!

WAY down below the sewers she awakes. Her whole face is bandaged up and she's afraid, wanting to know where she is. A comfortingly soft voice tells her..."don't you worry about a thing. Cause every, little thing's gonna be alright!" Love that song. Some other dude comes by who sounds like a doctor.

The Mummy!!!

So now she's with two strangers down, down in a deep, lavishly decorated hole. That sounds great!  Seriously though the room's she's in is rather nice and gothic like.

A little later we learn this dude is called Vincent and Cathy has broken ribs. She's gonna be wherever this is for a while. So Vincent leaves and enters into what looks like a library in a cave. So we are under New York City, past the sewers in some cave system. Okay, I guess we have to believe that.  So we meet the other dude from earlier and we are shown his face. Come to think of it we still have not seen Vincent's face. The new dude is older and seems to have authority here. He's a doctor and reprimands Vincent for bringing Cathy down there. This place is a secret. He acts like there is something wrong with Vincent when he talks about how Vin would make a good doctor but they most certainly would not have admitted him. What is wrong with Vincent? Hmmm. We get a glimpse of some majorly blond heavy metal band hair Vincent is sporting when the man hugs him.

Vincent got some SWEET digs! :D

Back in Vincent's room Cathy wants to know more about where she is at and as he talks about his secret place below the sewers we get a better view of all the things in this room. Looks like someone is a pack rat of extraordinary things.

Where NYC's souvenirs go to die.

Vincent was found near St. Vincent's hospital. He was taken down here to the tunnels where people go to escape the hardships from above. It's very secret and they tap on pipes to communicate. You Cathy have fell into a secret underground cult with Vincent and old dude as the figure heads. What have you gotten yourself into now, Cathy? lol. As he's feeding her bandaged head some soup, she touches his hideously, hairy hand! Oh my! Couldn't he have just been Robin Williams? Poor Robin. RIP. The dude was a hairy man.

Gunther?! Even his name sounds like a snob!

Meanwhile, Daddy is worried and has hired a detective to find her and he promises him he will.

Escape from Little China and don't forget the tea.
Cathy moves around the room bumping into things while Vincent silently watches. Must be what they do around here for entertainment since they don't have television. He tells her they'll finish reading Great Expectations. So their idea of fun down there are those "great, rectangular things called BOOKS!" Hmmm. The book store owner from Neverending story would have loved this place. Maybe he lived here once. :) Vincent says he's going to find tea for them. He sends some kid minion to fetch the tea in Chinatown. He should have told him to watch out for Burton and exploding men but this is New York not San Fransico. Maybe he should watch out for Snake.

"I'm a BEAST!" "Hold my beer!"

Back in Cathy's / Vincent's room she's taken off her bandages and looking into a shiny bowl at herself. She's carved up alright but her face ain't near as frightening as the face right behind her now!

Everybody hurts sometimes!

She promptly throws the bowl at the head of the man who's so kindly taken care of her all this time. What a way to say thank you! Completely dejected, awesome lion faced Vincent quietly leaves giving snooty butt time to boo hoo.

"I guess my life isn't so bad."

Later he returns and they talk about how he became who he is. He really doesn't know. He is what he is, lady. She smiles and accepts him and he gives her the courage to go on with life. See, Cathy. There are people who have it even worse than you! Now it's time to go home. I'm thinking she's been there a lot longer than is shown. Then we begin her and Vincent's long journey back to the world above. We meet some of the other people that live down there as in bums but one bracket higher. Just kidding. They're nice people. Wow, does it always take this long to get back to the city or did Vincent take her on the scenic route? Wasn't really scenic though. I'm sure the cave area will be prettier.

Anything for love but he won't do that!

Finally she's returned home right to the basement of her apartment. Creepy! They can get ANYWHERE in the city! Cathy, I think you're going to have a stalker. lol.  They say their thanks and goodbyes. The two already seem to have a connection. Just look at that hair. No, Vincent would not be a doctor in the world above. He absolutely would've been an 80s rock star. Sort of in the Meatloaf genre. You know he would do anything for love. :)

We're lushes and we know it!
Cathy visits the hospital where she undergoes surgery to fix her facial scares. While she is there she has a wild dream where everybody is mean to her except Vincent who nods as if to say carry on my wayward lady. One scene in the dream has her snobbish boyfriend and others holding HUGE glasses of wine. Okay, we get it. They're the REAL lushes. When she wakes all bandaged again she wishes Vincent was there to read Great Expectations. Awww already missing the sewers I mean caves.

Meanwhile, smelly, way too hairy Vincent climbs on top of an elevator and plops down on a building at night to look at the city landscape. Like no one would look up there and say, "Look! There's a great big Yeti sitting on that building! RUN!"

He's a regular Joe Schmoe!

Cathy decides to get a job as a district attorney. Her new boss will be Moreno and some nice looking dude calls her in. He's really cute. Hope we see more of him. lol :)

Issac Stubbs is your character on Street Fighter!
Wow, the transitions are really strange here. Now, we're following Cathy into a dark building. She's asking for a Mr. Stubbs. This place looks spooky. Is Cathy gonna get herself into ANOTHER dangerous situation already?! Nope! This time she's gonna learn some "New York City street fighting." Issac Stubbs is his name and fighting is his game. He takes Cathy's shoe and ruins one of his dummies to make a point. Okay, I wonder how long this self-defense will help Cathy. Hmmm. We shall see.

Edie rocking that blue eyeshadow!

I'm assuming back at her new job a nice lady named Edie is doing all Cathy's work at the moment. Nothing new here. lol She claims the D.A. has her busy. So Edie "checks her out." Catherine Chandler is her name and Edie discovers she was recently attacked. I see a friendship forming here I believe. Strange way but nonetheless.

Somewhere under a storm drain...

Later, Cathy walks over a storm drain and thinks of Vincent. Yeah, storm drains are sooo romantic.

Back to the Below and Vincent is already connected to Cathy. Wow, that's fast. Do these sort of things happen to Vincent often? If so, I feel sorry for the dude.

...Meatloaf roars!

We're connected! I want, no NEED to stalk her!

So she left one as a reminder?
Back at work, Edie helps Cathy track down the girl she was mistaken for. Remember that girl Carol from the party? This is where she comes in. Cathy pays Carol a visit and in her nice sweet way only frightens Carol more by showing her scars saying these were for her. Yeah, what a great way to persuade Carol to accept your help. "They're gonna do this to you too if you don't let me help you!" She leaves her number just in case.

In Stubbs' place Cathy is learning to defend herself. She kicks Stubbs' butt all over that gym. Hmmm. She a little wild cat! I wonder if we'll see some more of those moves throughout the series. *snickers*

At the front door to Cathy's apartment she snubs her snobby boyrfriend. Yeah, good riddance dude! Inside her apartment a while later she hears a sound outside on her balcony and grabs a gun. When she goes out there she finds a book (probably Great Expectations) and Vincent! Yay! The stalking begins! Really he just wanted to see if she was alright. Her beautiful healed face begins to frighten him away though. He tells her this is the last time they can see each other because he reminds people of there aloneness. Okay, but Cathy is the only "people" you're coming around so it should be okay, right? He tells her she should find someone and be happy. They spend the rest of the night reading together on the cold balcony. No, he was too beastly for her to invite him into the warm apartment for awhile. More romantic on the balcony I guess. Like Romeo and Juliet.

I ain't scared of no goons!
Back at work again where Carol and her sleepy eye (those mean goons) pays Cathy a visit and spills the beans that she was involved in a sort of escort service for important high class clients. Her boss Belmont would record the conversations of their clients and use it as blackmail against them. Well, Belmont thought Carol was going to squeal about this to said clients. So he sent his men after her. Yes, she wants to testify now even if she might get mutilated like Cathy or worse. Carol is going to be in protective custody in a brownstone. Let's see how long that lasts. Unfortunately one of Belmont's men follows Carol to the brownstone which makes the New York DA the WORST protective custody in the history of protective custodies! GRRRR!

Touché

Well, Cathy stops by later and discovers Carol is dead of course. Belmont's men come after Cathy and she gets to use some of that street fighting Stubbs showed her by grabbing a long lamp and shoving it into them. Ok. Vincent senses she's in trouble! Ok. He makes his lightning fast way to her by taking the same scenic route the two took earlier. LOL! She shoves a man down the stairs. Good going, Cathy! Unfortunately the dude grabs her foot and she goes down. Just as she's pulling out a wine bottle from the bag of groceries she had bought for Carol to smash it over the dude's head, Belmont comes out with a gun. You tried Cathy. At least this time you tried.

Simba?!!!!!

Suddenly superhero knight in shining hair Vincent bursts through a thick door and saves the day! He really got through the scenic route quite quickly! Vincent tip 101:

Circle of Life, baby!

Always bring your sharp claws up to your face before attacking. Makes you more scary! Also, scratching a man across the face isn't enough. You must go nuts and disembowel the guy in front of your lovely as she watches horrified and does nothing. He finally comes to his senses and the two get the heck out of there. So it was Vincent to the rescue. I wonder how many times that's going to happen in the show. :)

I'm not in Snob Hill anymore.

Later, the same detective that vowed to find Cathy earlier investigates the brownstone crime scene. He finds the hole in the basement where Cathy and Vincent escaped. Right here is where the dude says the line that pretty much sums up the whole series. "There's some pretty strange things going on in this city...and even stranger things going on underneath it." Yes, stranger things going on in the upside down. :)

When a work of art was enough.

Vincent and Catherine make there sweet goodbyes for the second time in this episode. I wonder how many times this is going to happen? We get that same painted backdrop they've shown earlier to make this place look bigger than it seems. You see children, this was how it was done back in the day when you had very little budget.

No Disney princess would go down there

THE END! ...of the first episode.

This series is very much set in it's time period and the production value is much to be desired. Even with the DVD version there is a grainy quality to the picture. The pace can be slow and a little plodding but there is something special about this series. The tunnel world is beautiful in it's own way. I love the costumes which look like they're centuries back from the present. This could be because they need warm clothes with living in cave systems all the time. The romance is beautiful in my opinion and if I seem to complain well it's because I want it to be even better than it is sometimes. This series is dated and it can be slow so I can see how it isn't always one's cup of tea. I guess the reason why I love the show so much is it captured me for the first time during my adolescence. When you're not quite grown yet and fairytales and first loves still enchant you. Well, my first review is done. I hope it wasn't a complete train wreck. Until next time. Tootles.

MAJOR SPOILERS

Am I on the set of MJ's "Bad" video?
So the episode begins in a New York City subway train. A really crappy one with graffiti and newspapers everywhere. Only a few people are riding when two goons slither in. After bothering one patron who stands up and leaves they turn their attention to a lady sitting alone.

Are you Sarah Connor?

The two dunces rob her and complain she only has 19 dollars. Come on guys! Do ya really think rich people are going to ride THAT train? Probably not if they can help it.

Want a Bear Claw? Not the sweet kind!

Well, after they pour her whole purse contents on the floor some other dude with a bear claw glove scratches the goons up and saves the day! Could it be Vincent? Hmmmm.

No way! My man couldn't do this?!

At the district attorney's office, Joe (the guy with Moreno in the pilot) hands Cathy pictures of the two goons whom the bear claw guy killed. Yep, she's on the case. While looking at the pics she wonders could it be Vincent? Yeah, this is where the episode's going to go.

Welcome to Subway. May I take your order?

They're calling him the Subway Slasher! Sounds yummy. A Subway sandwich sounds good especially if they're going to slash the prices! :) Anyway, Cathy is on the hunt. We also have Joe's full name. Joseph Maxwell. :)

Street Fighter character modified!

Onto Issac Stubbs' (Cathy's fight instructor from the pilot) place.  Wait a min! That ain't Issac Stubbs! He's magically been changed into another dude. Apparently, the original actor wasn't available. That sucks but what can you do? Issac seems to know something but he doesn't want to tell a D.A. about it. Cathy persuades him to show her anyway.

Protectors Inc,

Issac takes her where a do good gang called the Protectors reside. He introduces her to the man that created the gang, Jason Walker.

Cobra Kai Never Dies!

Onto Walker's office which is decked out with Ninja Turtles weapons on the wall. Nope, this guy has nothing to do with it? Not at all. They talk about the old lady's attackers and Jason is all for a hero while Cathy believes the law should take care of it. Yes, the law should take care of it, Cathy. Would you say the same if Vincent was saving your behind?

I like weapons. So what?

Cathy: "Most of the time the system works. It's all we got."  Walker: "We have each other and now we've got him." Cathy *We don't need another hero! * Walker *I Need a Hero!*

A difference of opinion once upon a time.

Wow! Two very different opinions and not a one of them left the building feeling beaten down. Just given "something to think about." That must have felt refreshing.

Heeding Street Fighter's advice

After leaving Walker's, Cathy asks Issac what she should do if she knew who the Slasher was. He tells her she should ask but make sure she really wants to know the answer. Oh great. Cathy's going to ask Vincent. You know, that's a wonderful way to begin a relationship. "Hey, my knight in shinning hair, are you perhaps killing people on the side? Just asking."

He'll be here. I just know it!

So back to the hole in the ground. Cathy now knows the type of communication they use on the pipes. I'm sure it's a warped version of Morse code so it's probably not that hard to learn.  After waiting on the balcony for Vincent for what seems like forever and wasted film he finally arrives.

...or sandwich?

She hugs him tight so happy he came. Just to receive a huge lion roar in her face and a whole lot of shaking going on! She sure didn't ask for this! She wakes up screaming!

Is there something in my teeth?

Only a dream. Now we have our Beauty afraid of the Beast. That's not going to work. In reality she waited out there the whole night and no knight! What's up with you Vin? She could've got a cold out there!

Friends, don't let Cousin It pipe tap.

Cathy talks to Edie again. She claims she has a dirty apartment and wants her to track down the lady who was attacked in the subway. She's a housekeeper.

The housekeeper lady (Mrs. Dolby) doesn't want to talk. She tries to protect her savior from Cathy but Cathy tells her it's personal (she still thinks it's Vincent). Mrs Dolby mentions claws and calls him a "terrible angel". Almost title drop right there. That only makes Cathy believe it could be Vincent even more.

"Terrible Angel" = Vincent?! Noooo!
The poor lady has to continue riding that trashy train. She's a housekeeper too so that double sucks. I should know because I'm a housekeeper as well. I feel for you, Mrs. Dolby. I really do.

So Cathy FINALLY goes back to the sewers I mean Maze of Caves (for the first time since the pilot and Vincent basically says she could have got lost and died down there then no more show, goodbye, see ya).

Girl, you could've died!

Let's just call this place Below and New York is Above from now on. She says "I had to see you but you never came." Vincent says, "I could feel your fear."

Who is Vicky Stanton?

Okay Vincent, let me know how it feels when Cathy watches Children of the Corn for the first time. Trust me, she's going to flip out when the female lead character shows up. Of course Vincent is hurt that she cannot trust him.

Sing it Shaggy: It wasn't me!

Well, you're still sort of new to her Vincent. We all don't have instant connections like you. He says, "It is not me." The crazed look on her face said that didn't work. He moves towards her and she jumps away. Just hurt him more why don't ya, girl! Girl, he'd rather hurt a lamp than hurt you.

When in doubt...blame a lamp.

She apologizes but he tells her the heart won't lie. You got to trust with your heart, girl! Go home, lady. Shinning Hair only wants people who trust him around here. lol

Later in the Below, Vincent is sitting on a bridge in one of those amazing works of art I mentioned in the last review. You can hear people whispering all over this place.

Art! For me to sit on.

So lets call this the Whispering Winds Chamber. I think that's what it's really called. If only New York had places like that. lol Father stops by to check on him and Vincent tells him how this place is his Facebook and Twitter all rolled up in to one. Oh, Vincent, you nosey little kitty.

No fear here...not at all.

Vincent tells his woes about Cathy and Father is like dude, she lives in New York. Of course she's afraid all the time. We live down here where we got it good. There's no fear here, baby...unless I fall off this bridge. Then I'll have a long time to wave goodbye!

Lawsuits? Never heard of them.

Vincent says he used to hide here when he was a kid playing games! Oh my gosh! They let children play down THERE?! Hmm. I wonder who you go to for lawsuits in the Below?

Sweet dreams are made of this...

Back up Above, Cathy has the supernatural ability to dream who the REAL Slasher is. Of course, it's Jason Walker. How shockingly obvious. So back to where we began.

These dreams go on when I close my eyes

A visit to Jason Walker's weapons office. More talk of superheroes and rules. When Cathy begins checking out his weapons (on the wall) she almost touches his sword.

Don't touch! How rude, Cathy?

Jason says she shouldn't touch because "samurais kept their blades razor sharp." She returns, "Does that make you a samurai, Jas?" Oh Cathy, walking that line now aren't ya? It could make him the Leonardo Ninja Turtle but I digress. She notices the ninja stars. You know I really do think Jason watches Ninja Turtles.

Two claws for a price of vigilante

Finally, Cathy lays her eyes on a pair of claws that look very familiar. Oh Jason. Yep, this gal knows! When Cathy leaves it appears Jason places someone to follow her. That ain't good.

Everybody's a critic

Well, Cathy tries to rat Jason out to Joe but he says we already know about him. Try again. They've been watching him and he has an alibi. Har-dee-har-har.

Back on that sucky subway again and a young lady is being harassed by another dumb goon. As the goon tries to rape the lady another passenger warns there is a policeman on the train but to no avail.

Nothing to see here, officer! Move along.

As the passenger leaves to get the police, bear claw man (Jason) arrives. Dressed in one of Vincent's cloaks it seems. Jason grabs the goon. He's interrupted by the cop the passenger alerted. Jason is wearing one of the strangest masks I've ever seen. Looks like it's made out of paper mache and fur.

Oh crud, now you've done it!

Anyway he hits the cop and tries to make his escape out of a window. The cop tries to stop him and gets a claw to the face. Uh oh! You've gone too far! He escapes into one of the tunnel doors and is spotted by a tunnel dweller. That's what a person from Below is called. Well, Vincent is going to hear about this.

Oh, I need a hug.

Vincent visits Catherine and they make there amends with Vincent warning, "that even the gentlest man has a demon locked inside him." Cathy doesn't believe Vincent has one. You've grown up, Cathy. He tells her about Jason and she wants a stakeout. I want mine with A1 sauce please! Vincent can't have the blue hats searching through the tunnels. They just might find him or the others.

I think I taw a puddy cat!

Vincent questions himself and wonders if he's "any different" from Jason. Cathy assures him he is. Uh oh! One of Jason's lackeys is watching them on the balcony! The plot thickens!

Cathy, cheapskate you are.

Back at work Cathy's paying for Edie's lunch and of course it's change for a food machine. What's wrong with you Cathy? You have a rich father. Take your friend out to lunch at a fancy restaurant sometime! That's all she asks! "Push button job, push button food, as soon as they come out with button men I'll be set."
Oh Edie. You so funny...I want a push button man. It's 2021 and where is my push button man?  Edie mentions the building Jason and the Protectors reside in used to be a safe haven for sailors and a hotel.

Research in ancient times.
After looking in the "dusty tomes" at the library, she learns there are secret tunnels under the building. Cathy is captured by Jason's lackeys and brought to him. Jason wants to know about Vincent.

Speaks for itself.
Back in the Below in the most dangerous place EVER (Whispering Winds), Vincent is listening to an orchestra play. Ok. At Jason's, Cathy claims she doesn't know what Jason is on about.  Jason takes her to some tunnels. Vincent hears Cathy pleading with the lackeys and scoots out of there. Just as Jason threatens Cathy again in all his bear claw glory, Vincent appears!

Two attractive creatures for two gals!

The Knight in Shinning Hair to the rescue again! Jason runs away and we have a long scene of Jas and Vincent running! Action! Yeah!

Nobody touches my woman...not even me!

Jas grabs pipes and climbs across while Vincent pulls a power cord and swings over Tazan style. Electricity is afraid of Vincent.

Where in the Princess Bride am I?

Some how some way Jason finds himself in the Whispering Winds chamber. Isn't that convenient?!

Was my fav of my all 10 identical shirts!

The two fight and Jas scratches Vincent. Oh no he didn't! He in trouble now!

Was meaning to fix that. My bad.

Then after all this time with Vincent walking over that bridge it just happens to break NOW! Vincent almost falls all the way down but manages to hold himself up by grabbing the sides.

All's well that ends well...for me!

He helplessly looks up at Jason who's ready with the fatal blow! Don't do it, Jas!

You can root for me now! I'm not so bad.

He decides to have compassion at the last moment, grabs a hold of some kind of vine, and swings away from the bridge.

WEEEEE!!!!

The vine breaks before he can get to the other side of the chasm.

Goodbye!! It was fun while it lasted!

Down, down, goes Jason. Waving goodbye to his time on this episode.

RIP :(

We get a clip of the old New York skyline. RIP Twin Towers.

Poor Jas, we feel for him. Let's hug

Vincent tells Catherine that according to the children Jas is falling down a never- ending tunnel. What a way to go. Vincent says a least Jas "found his mercy again in the end." Fat chance that's going to help him falling forever. Well, maybe he made his peace with God.

   The End...of episode 2

Vincent's concert hall

Down a darken alley, beautiful piano music floats out from one of the buildings. Vincent is in said alley quietly listening. Okay, I think it is safe to say that this man is a classical music junkie. He'll do just about anything he can to get a little culture. When you live in the ground with poor peeps I guess that's hard to come by.

Misha the piano player

It's revealed an old man is playing his piano in his apartment.

There's trouble afoot and it stinks!

Vincent ducks down as a car slides into the alley and the old man stops playing and turns out his light. Bad dudes already arriving.

They must really hate pianos!

Two men step out of the car and throw two molotov cocktails into the old man's window! Oh man! What did that old man ever do to them?! Overreacting much?!

I promise I'll play the oboe next time!
Superhero Vincent saves the day but poor old man passes out from smoke inhalation. He's okay though because he wakes up a little while later and thanks Vincent for saving his life. Vincent hides in the shadows afraid to show his face.

My stars! I was saved by Aslan?!

He tells Vincent those men want all the old people out of that building for money or something. When the old dude staggers, Vincent helps him up and old dude gets to see him. Lucky old dude.

Welcome to Snob Hill...again.

At another part of the city, a fancy party is taking place in an art gallery. Cathy is there socializing it up. So we're back to Snob Hill again.

Why am I here?

The couple she's talking to are gushing all about some rich dude named Elliot Burch. He used to be poor and now he's not. Good for him.

You're the hottest thing in this gallery.

Cathy and Elliot flirt with their eyes for what seems like an eternity. Okay we get it. They want each other.

Want some driftwood?
Later he approaches her introducing himself and she's like no duh. I know who you are. Why do you think I got all dressed up to go to this thing? Well, she didn't say it exactly in that way but whatever. Okay, I really can't pretend like I haven't seen this episode before. I have to admit I do not like the character of Elliot Burch. Never have and never will. No offence to the actor who played him, Edward Albert (son of Eddie Albert of Green Ackers fame). He was a talented man and not just in acting but in music as well. He passed away a few years back. May he rest in peace.

No reason to remember me!

Anyway, more flirting. Lewis, Elliot's lawyer ruins the mood and the two leave him behind.

Sophie, Misha's wife

Vincent promises to help the old man (who's name is Misha) and leaves before his wife comes down and sees the mess. He comforts her.

Elliot and Cathy talk about her job as a district attorney. She enjoys being out of her father's shadow and doing some good. Great, Cathy. There's hope for you yet. He gives her some spill about how poor peeps like himself have to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and show the world but she had to prove herself as well. A former poor boy and a little rich girl. A match made in convenience. Grrr. Oh Cathy! Forgetting somebody? ...and that is how Vincent is left on the cutting room floor. The worse of it is Vincent can actually feel it happening. This is not going to be pleasant.

See? We're different but alike.

We'll get'em next time! Muwahaha!

Now, we're in love. Ugh.

Meanwhile at a bar some top notch goon is talking to his high class superior about "something going wrong" and " should've went up like a haystack." We can only guess what's that's about.

This is my "don't stalk me" card.

Burch drops Cathy off in his fancy car at her apartment and he wants another date of course. She gives him her card so he can call her. If only she wrote "I'm taken" on the card we wouldn't have to go through this pain. This is only the third episode of the series so maybe Cathy wasn't all that into Vincent yet.
He did tell her to find someone in the the pilot episode so she could've been taking him up on that suggestion. Still hurts all the same.

Really? Bad things are happening?

Inside her apartment, Cathy catches Vincent on her balcony just as he was leaving. He claims he was dropping off a message. He relays to her what's been going on with Misha and his neighbors. They're being bullied out of their homes. She notices Vincent's burns from the fire. He wants her to find out who is doing this to the old people.

I feel like chopped suey.

Even thought Vincent knows it may hurt him he also tells Cathy to "follow your heart." Vincent is a glutton for punishment and we are being dragged down with him. GRRR.

Another day , another taxi

Next day Cathy meets Misha and the other tenants. She gets an ear-full about how these goons are doing whatever it takes to scare them out of their apartments. Misha notices the man we've seen at the bar earlier and tells Cathy he is the man who told those goons to drive them out. He has just bribed a couple of the tenants (Misha's best friend and his wife) to move out. This dude is smooth.

I got problems. You gonna fix them?

The man (Mundy)  threatens them all (including Cathy) and leaves. He thinks he's all that. The old people's building was sold to a company that this Mundy is involved with.

Mundy, Mundy

Cathy gets to work on how to stop him but it won't be easy. Protocol and everything.

Flowers. Living the high life.

Later at work Edie is impressed by the bouquet of roses (from Burch of course) on Cathy's desk. She asks Edie to look into Mundy. Burch is becoming annoying and calling her at work for another date which she accepts. Grrr!

If you love her let her go.

Below, Father plays the role of Vincent's shrink because by now the dude really needs it. This guy holds it in like the Hoover Dam! Vincent confides in Father only for him to say, "let her fall in love."

Vincent? Is that you?

Father drives the dagger in more even though he means well. Vincent cannot have a life of love. Why not I say? It was going pretty well until drifty Burchwood came along!

Skip the light fandango. Grrr.

While Father is deepening Vincent's depression, Cathy is having a night on the town with fancy pants driftwood.

STOP PICKING ON OLD PEOPLE!!! ROAR!!!

In another part of town, one of those goons from the beginning of the show is following Misha and his wife. A car drives around and the other goon jumps out and they both start to harass poor Misha. Thank goodness Vincent was stalking the couple.

Misha, I saw the biggest alley cat EVER!

He goes all Freddy Krueger on the goons, tearing up one of their shirts.  The goons escape and the old couple are safe now so Super Cat runs back into the fog like he's on an episode of Joss Whedon's Angel.

The goons go tattle tell to Mundy about Vincent but he doesn't believe them.

Want to smoochy face?

Meanwhile Cathy's still having her night on the town with Burchwood.

Kissing Burchwood. Watch out for splinters.

We have this nauseating, annoying scene of those two kissing. Maybe Cathy is thinking about kissing Vincent and Burch is thinking about kissing skyscrapers. I can only wish.

Lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely :(

Our lonely kitty is standing by the sewers also wishing Cathy was kissing him instead. Poor baby.

The next day Cathy gets a new lead from some goofy guy named Benny. She calls Misha and asks if he's willing to testify. Of course he is. Go Misha!

You can't always get what you want.

Edie lets Cathy know that the buildings the old people live in are supposed to be torn down but the old people won't leave so no wrecking ball. Cathy believes the real company that owns the buildings are hiding behind the companies that claim them. Hmm. Wonder who that could be. There goes Edie doing more favors for Cathy. Joe says they can get the goons but not Mundy...not yet.

I'm rich and you're not.

Burch the show off brings a fancy lunch to Cathy's office in front of everyone. Hmm. Will Cathy be happy about this? This dude is trying way too hard.

"I'm supposed to be poor here. Get out!"

Cathy sweetly says he's embarrassing her. One of Burch's men uncorks a bottle at the wrong time.

Guess Cathy has to clean up the mess.

Are they nuts?! There are people everywhere! It could've struck someone in the eye! After all that, Cathy still kisses him and still wants to date him. Yuck!

At least she can pay for the insurance!

Cathy gives more secret messages to Vincent by way of the Above helpers who are the eyes and ears of the tunnel dwellers. This time to one playing a sax.

I'll get you Mundy and your goons too.

She helps Misha and his wife (who are going to testify) into a car while Mundy watches across the street.

Let's make like Bowie and dance.

Cathy bravely walks over to him and warns him to stay away and she's going to "put you away." He just subtly threatens her back.

Why can't I have you both?!

Later that night Mundy watches while Cathy walks into a drainage hole. I'm sure he's wondering what that's all about. She talks to Vincent whom she has been neglecting for a while now. She tells him they're going to place the goons in jail. They talk about the bond they have which seems to be quite thin on her side at the moment. She claims differently though and that it's "the most real thing in her life."

What?! Our bond clock must be broken today!

Yeah, but there's still room in there for Burch apparently. She seems to say even if she is in love with Burch she wants Vincent on the side. I don't think that's going to work for Burch or Vincent. They're one woman men and they don't want to share.

Well, look who's back.

Turns out Burch's lawyer Lewis is the dude Mundy keeps reporting to. He tells Lewis about Cathy's late night meeting with someone.

She's so bright she's gotta wear shades.

Edie has the name of the company that owns the buildings and all Edie wants in return is to see the Mets play in Cathy's father's "private box." Come on Cathy. Do it. She deserves it. :)

I plead the fifth.

Cathy goes straight to Lewis! Things are coming together. He claims he can't help her but she also wants to know if these buildings have a connection to her fancy pants driftwood man.

All men suck...except Vincent.

His reaction tells her all she needs. Yay! Vincent's back in the game!

Never place a dartboard by the door, Joe!

Mundy's goons are out of jail and all Joe can do is set up some agents to watch Misha's street. How nice.

Skyyyyscrapers is the place to be!

Cathy confronts Burch about all the dirty dealings his company has been doing to those poor, old people.

You're really going to sing that NOW?!

It goes about as well as you think. You go girl! She boo hoos over her lost love.

EEEvicting is the life for me!

Just get over it, lady. You have a much better knight waiting for you in the Land of Caves.

I want my knight in shining hair!

Cathy visits Misha's wife at their apartment to let them know that the goons are out. Misha's wife Sophie talks to Cathy about standing up to bullies. She reveals to Cathy that Misha and herself were Jews in Nazi Germany. Meanwhile Mundy and his goons are getting ready to cause some trouble.

Who turned out the lights?

They turn off the power and start busting down the apartment doors looking for them. Misha rouses up the neighbors to fight and Cathy and Sophie hide in an empty apartment which won't help because they're searching every room.

Blinded by the light!

Old peeps grab weapons and wonder around in the hallway. Yeah, that's going to stop them. The goons find Cathy and Sophie.

This is absolutely possible!

Vincent's danger alarm rings and this time he's smart enough to jump on top of a subway train to get there. He should do that more often.

Dude, watch your back not me...

Everyone is having a big old brawl in the hallway by the time Vincent appears. Busting through a window, he attacks one of the goons first.

They never listen.

When Mundy attacks Vincent, he's thrown to a wall, trips over a fallen goon, and falls through the high story window to his death. Another bad dude down.

Tootles, Misha! Have a good life! :)

The old people are shocked. Did a member from the Broadway show Cats save their lives?!  Nope, just "a friend like Cathy."

It's over lover boy!

Later that night Cathy arrives at her apartment when Burchwood calls out to her.

Hit the road, Jack!

She tells him he can't have that building and gives him a look that says it's soooo over between them!! Goodbye Burchy Burch!

Now the romance we're here for begins!

Vincent gives Cathy a book of sonnets and we are blessed with him reading one of these sonnets and stock footage. :)

Why did I ever fall for Burchwood?

She's yours again Vincent and you'll never have to deal with Burchwood again. Nope, never again. GRRR.

This is the man you want!

Cathy needs a car of her own.

In a seedy looking part of town a taxi comes to a stop. The driver tells his passenger about there being "no bars" around this area.

Lady, you crazy!

The passenger turns out to be Cathy and she begs for the driver to wait which he responds, "you're out of your mind."

Another MJ set. Where's the panther?

Oh Cathy, are you getting yourself into trouble already?! Poor Cathy is left by herself in creepy land and begins walking.

I'll be there for you when the world falls down.

Someone grabs her arm and she screams. Its good news this time because it's only Vincent. What a way to give your gal a heart attack, Vin! He warns her about this place and admits he was following her out of concern in his Vincent sort of way.

The face of T.R.O.U.B.L.E.
Apparently she's there because she promised she would meet with someone to talk. She has to go alone though because well, promises promises. Sorry Vin, you can't follow her anymore. He says that he will be nearby.

Welcome to The Jets!

Later Cathy steps into a graffitied bar and grill, a door opens and the cast of Westside Story walks out.

Let's Shake, Rattle, and Roll

She wants to know which of them is Shake. We get a close up of a dude in sunglasses claiming he's the one. He asks about a friend who seems to be going to prison. She says if he talks to her she can try to get his friend's sentence reduced.

Peek-A-Boo!

After a little playing around, Shake starts to talk about the leader of another gang named Chris.

Not saying Chris did it but Chris did it.

Basically, Cathy is there because Shake saw a murder and she wants him to tell her who the murderer is. Shake talks about this "Chris" blackmailing store owners.

Here comes trouble!

Meanwhile Vincent is hiding nearby and a classic car pulls up just outside the bar.

Annie, are you okay?

A few guys walk out of the car with rifles and junk and go full Moonwalker's Joe Pesci on the bar! Cathy and Shake fall down to the ground. Shake is hurt but tries to run for cover. So does Cathy.

Sounds like a jungle in there!

Vincent jumps down from above and roars which is heard by one of the gang members outside.

...but I want to help too!

Vincent grabs Cathy who wants to help the wounded Shake and tells her to go outside. Vincent turns to help Shake.

Mom? What is the meaning of suggestive?

One of the gang members outside which we are to assume is Chris, lights a bomb and throws it into the building! What is it with this show and throwing bombs in buildings?!

Come on baby, light my fire. :(

Place go boom of course. As the gang walk closer to the building we are given more view of the members.

You and me too, Mister.

One of them is short (Joe Pesci?) and one is a big, burly guy who doesn't look too happy about all this. At least one of them has some sense!

TRAITOR!

Cathy is worried about Vincent when two other guys who escaped the blast start attacking her. They think she betrayed them. She fights them off but one of them gets the upper hand and knocks her lights out. Cathy is down for the count.

Blinded by the light...again.

Meanwhile inside another building where Chris' gang resides, poor Vincent has been captured and chained up. Chris' gang are all around him and shinning lights in his face.

Vincent Vision: There's such a sad love...

They talk about making money by showing Vincent off to the world. Wow, third episode in and Vincent isn't such a secret anymore. Vincent is hurt and his eyes and ears have been damaged from the explosion.

Tell me lies. Tell me sweet little lies.

Apparently Cathy survived the fight because she's now with the police. She lies to them about Vincent being inside because secrets, secrets.

I'll be your Jungle Girl.

Back at the gang's lair one of the guys' girlfriends seem to have a crush on Vincent. Another girlfriend mentions he might talk.

Is he hungry like the wolf?

V V: Deep in your eyes a. A kind of pale jewel..

Chris continues to scream in Vincent's face while poor Vincent continues to struggle with seeing and hearing.

Code for Oops I did it again.

Back in the tunnels, Cathy is banging on a pipe hoping to find out about Vincent.

In my opinionation, this girl's career is gonna shine.

A tunnel girl named Ellie (who looks an awful lot like that girl from Blossom and Big Bang Theory) lets Cathy know that Vincent hasn't come back since he was with her. Uh Oh Spaghettios! Ellie takes her to Father.

Guilty as charged

Cathy informs Father about the situation Vincent is in. Father gets upset that Vincent was in a very dangerous area and when he asks why he was there Cathy has to admit it was her fault.

Papa don't preach!
Yes, this whole episode is Cathy's fault. I have to sort of agree with Father on this one. He tells her their "relationship is a tragic mistake." As much as I love this couple if you take into account how this series ended maybe Father was right. :(

We're all in this together.
The conversation continues and the subject of underground pathways to that area of town comes up.

Can Vincent make it down in the underground?

They both hope that Vincent can make it to one of these places.

Sweet Howie <3
Back at the gang's lair, the big, burly man from earlier asks Vincent if he can talk. This dude sounds sweet but a little slow. Vincent replies back to him. The man says his name is Howie.

FINALLY! Someone with a heart!

He asks Howie to let him go but the others return at that moment.

VV: Open and closed within your eyes

Poor Vincent keeps floating between this world and in the David Bowie's Labyrinth video As the World falls Down.

That's more frightening than my hair!

The gang continues to torture our V-man with beer and blowtorches. Now Vincent smells like beer. If Cathy ever finds him she'll think he went on a bender and passed out in the garbage in some dark alley.

V V: I'll place the sky within your eyes

Then Joe Pesci dude hits him with a crowbar! Oh no he didn't!

MJ never called me back!

Thankfully Howie stops him from doing it again. He grabs the guy's hand and forces him down. He won't let up until Chris tells him to stop.

Howie to the rescue!

Gooo Howie! I'm liking him more and more.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Chris comes at Vincent one more time with the blowtorch and that's enough for Vincent!

There's gonna be a heartache tonight!

He breaks out of his chains and goes full raging Beast on them! He attacks and kills Tony, Chris' brother and escapes.

I'm just dancing in the dark.

Poor Vincent is still semi-blind so it's hard for him to get around. After almost getting run over a few times, Vincent squats down to rest for a min.

You killed my brother! Prepare to die!

Chris vows to kill Vincent for killing his brother.

Victory! You win extra fighter!
Meanwhile, Cathy has our Street Fighter Issac Stubbs tag along to help her search for Vincent. Issac isn't told everything but he helps Cathy anyway. That's our boy!

I see things!

They ask a couple of bums if they saw anything when the building exploded and one of them says the gang grabbed Vincent and took off. Cathy believes the gang are The Silks. Thankfully Stubbs knows where to go.

Just another day on the job.

Vincent is found by a security guard who is quite nice to him even though he tells Vincent he can't stay there. Vincent quietly wonders back into the night.

I saw something but I didn't.

Later Cathy just misses Vincent. Her taxi drives right by him.

Cathy can you see me? Cathy can you feel me?

V V:There's such a fooled heart
He feels her but since he can't see very well or hear and he's a secret, he can't yell out to her. Sometimes it really sucks to be Vincent.

So close to a land serene and a crystal moon

All Vincent can see are blurry lights and the Silks are still looking for him. Vincent tries his best to get to a storm drain in the middle of the street, when Chris sees him in his rear view mirror.

Howie to the rescue...again!! <3

They turn around. Chris tries to run him over but our Howie comes to the rescue again.! He grabs the wheel causing the car to turn. It still hits Vincent but not dead on.

Love Hurts!

Our poor baby is going to need a week to sleep this off when and if he gets back to the tunnels!

I'm not asking but I'm asking...

Cathy confides her worries about Vincent to Issac and actually tells him Vincent's name.

You want a new drug?

Later a local street walker finds Vincent by her door. She helps him inside and offers him some drugs since Vin is clearly in a lot of pain. He declines and begs her not to turn on the light.

.
Oh my gosh! You're really freaky, yeah!
After telling him "you have to trust somebody sometimes" she turns on the light and promptly screams in his face. Great job, lady. As the lady freaks, Vincent tries to rise up to leave. He stumbles out the door.

Lean on me when you're not strong.
The lady comes to her senses and goes after him. She brings him back inside. You go girl! :) She agrees to help Vincent find his way back to Father.

This used to be their playground.

The Silks are still looking for Vincent.

Okay, are we looking for Ninja Turtles?

Cathy and Stubbs are still a few steps behind.

Shake it and David Bowie sings!

Unfortunately one of The Silks sees Vincent and Lucy. Lucy tells Vincent to go ahead and she waits until The Silks are upon her. Howie shows her his cute snow globe.

...but I love Lucy, Chris.

Chris threatens her and Howie gets her in a choke hold. They force her to tell them where Vincent is.

Every rose has her gun.

Vincent holds them off for a bit when he throws an iron fence onto one of the gang. He stumbles into the place. Once the gang are  inside, Chris makes Howie give his gun to the girlfriends.

We'll get there...eventually.

Later the guys start shooting at poor Vincent. I really think this is Everybody Hates Vincent. Cathy and Stubbs are just outside.

Cathy and Stubbs finally make it inside but the girlfriends point a gun on them. A gunshot distracts the girls and hold on Vincent! Cathy is coming!

The Truth is Out There!

The little gang dude continues to shoot at Vincent but is eventually attacked by Vincent and killed.

Bye Bye Pesci!

FINALLY, Vincent is at the door that will lead him back home. It's shut tight though and Vincent is too weak to open it.

Is this the door to your rabbit farm?

Howie walks up behind Vincent and when he talks Vincent turns around ready to strike. Howie only wants to help. They both grab the door and open it together. Vincent is home free!

Look George! It's a snow globe! (rabbits) :(

Chris arrives though and shoots poor Howie because he wouldn't move so he could shoot Vincent.

Only the good die young.

The way Vincent jumps when multiple shots are fired into Howie is so sad. Awww. Why did they have to kill the sweet dude?!

He did it all for love.

Howie continues to protect Vincent by bear hugging Chris and crushing him. They both fall. Go on home NOW Vincent and yell at Cathy "here's another fine mess you got me into!"

After all of this and you show up NOW?!

Whoa! Wait a min! You can do that here. Cathy and Stubbs FINALLY make it to him as he's leaving. Cathy tells Stubbs she don't need him anymore! Leave! lolol!

V V: I'll be there for you. As the world falls down.

Poor dude. All that time helping Cathy and gaining her trust and he doesn't get to meet Vincent and Father.

All work and no reward makes Issac a confused boy.

At least he got to see Vincent...I think.

Nothing's gonna stop us now!

As they leave our last scene is of poor Howie's body. His hand drops that cute snow globe.

Howie's with David Bowie now.

Wouldn't it have been nice if some way Howie could have escaped the gang and lived in the tunnels with Vincent? It was not meant to be. :(

The End...of episode 4

This was a good episode but there are a couple of problems I have with it. First, the fact that Cathy seems to be to blame for this. Vincent is so beaten and battered that it makes me upset at Catherine even more. Deep down it really isn't her fault. She was just doing her job. Did she really have to choose such a dangerous job though? I know she really wanted to help people but couldn't she have chosen to work as a counselor or volunteer at a soup kitchen? Knowing Cathy, she would still have found trouble. Plus, the show wouldn't be the same. Second, not all the people who saw Vincent died. The Silks are still out there. Well, the girlfriends are at least. There is also Lucy. I don't think Lucy will say anything but what about the two girls? You would think they would want revenge for their boyfriends' murders. Too many people saw Vincent that questions should be asked and police should be investigating. You could say Cathy cleaned it all up but still that's a lot to clean up. She deserves to though, after everything Vincent went through. Okay, I need to stop blaming Cathy. I just can't help it. GRRR.

An old fan made (poorly made) movie trailer I created with Beauty and the Beast and Teen Witch eons ago.
